Job Summary and QualificationsAs an Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN), you will plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for endoscopy unit patients. You will provide leadership and supervise the care, maintenance, and activities of the endoscopy suite. You will also ensure a clean, efficient, and safe environment within the work area.
You will complete age appropriate assessment of patients prior to admission to surgical suite
You will verify operative procedures and not presence of signed consent on medical records
You will verify that history, physical, and allergy, information are recorded on medical records and communicated to the care team
You will gather the patient's perception of surgery and understanding of the planned procedure, as well as provide patient teaching and emotional support
You will assist with care of the patient during anesthesia
You will perform surgical preps and position the patient properly for surgery
You will administer medications and IV therapy correctly and safely
You will ensure availability of safe equipment, participate in process improvement, and prevent and manage accidents in the work area
Job Requirements
Experience
1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
1 year of previous Endoscopy experience - preferred
Education
Associates degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
Licenses and Certifications
Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy required within 6 months of hire
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months of hire
Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) certification - preferred

This comprehensive medical center features the only hybrid operating room in the county, a 24-hour emergency department with a Level II trauma center, and leading-edge cardiac care through the Heart Hospital of Austin at St. David's Round Rock.
